Our pup loves treats, so much that he thinks everytime he comes back from going outside, he comes in ready to do a 360, high five or double shake so he can get a treat. With so many treats given, healthy ingredients are key. This is a weird recipe, but he LOVES them! Warning: contains organic baby food! 🤓
This is my guy Jonathan with our pup Sitka. 🐕 He’s a shelter dog we adopted a couple years ago. Best dog ever! Sitka is a Husky/Shepherd mix. This pic is from our backyard where we have tractor roads we walk him on that surround the winter wheat fields. Beautiful!
This is one crazy dough! I first made a dough using a few of the ingredients for a soft dog treat, but they were refrigerator storage only and too soft to roll out. I adapted-like I always do.
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup instant cream of wheat
1 cup quick oatmeal
1 cup brown rice flour
1 small tub sweet potato baby food
1 small tub baby food peas
1 small cup of applesauce
1/4 cup peanut butter
1-2 tbsp saved bacon grease, cold
Mix all ingredients together. If dough is too sticky/wet, add in a little more brown rice flour until dough holds together enough to roll out. Roll to an estimated 1/4 inch thickness, then cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cookies will be a tiny bit soft when cool.
Ta-da! They are well loved by our Sitka!
PS: You can sub in chicken, beef or turkey baby food, but double check for dog friendly veggies and fruits before changing out!
